My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

In October 2008, I will be travelling to Patagonia in southern Argentina.  I will be trekking/camping in the Los Glaciers National Park for several days, covering 70 kilometres in difficult mountainous terrain.  In the process I will be raising funds for Mencap, who help and support children and adults with learning disabilities in the UK. (visit www.mencap.org.uk)

I will also be visiting Gaiman, a Welsh speaking community who are the original descendants of the 162 men, women and children who travelled on the ship "Mimosa" to Patagonia from Wales in 1865 - today there are 20,000 descendants with 5000 Welsh speakers ....

Iolo Williams the BBC Wales naturalist will be joining the trip.

100% of your donation will go to Mencap ..

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  You can use the site even if your a non tax payer to give a donation.

Many thanks for your support.

Paul.

October 2008 :

Just over a week to go ... a few more gym sessions and maybe a yomp up Pen y Fan and we are off ... a huge thank you for all who have supported my Mencap fundraising

August/September 2008:

I cant believe Im going next month, so its 4-5 weeks of intensive fitness to prepare, otherwise its lama's all the way ....

July 2008 :

The three peaks turned out to be a massive challenge, starting at 5:00 am and returning at 3:00am the following morning, everyone pushed themselves to their limits and had a great day out that will be remembered for some time.  Big thanks to Mal, Alan, Zuhal, Stuart, Darren, Lee, Sis and Mike who did all of the driving ! ....

The first Mencap BBQ was to be held today, due to the weather posponed til the 18th ...

BBQ was held, despite initial rain .... thanks to all who donanted - didnt kill anyone either :)

June 2008 :

Fantastic month of generosity, ovr £1000+ raised and the minimum target of £3500 reached.  Im now trying to raise £5000 for Mencap.

On the 6th of July myself and 10 others will undertake the Welsh 3 peaks challenge, climbing Snowdon, Cadir Idris and Pen y Fan in one day,

May 2008 :

The Total is now ~ £2500 :-)

Mal Boulton (IFX HR) has very kindly agreed to run two half marathons to aid my fund raising activities - Please give Mal your support ...... go Mal ...

In early July, Im planning to organise a "3 peaks Challenge" .. more details soon ...let me know if you would like to join us, there are a few places free.

This summer I will also be putting on my chef hat and holding a number of BBQ's at the Infineon site in Bristol.

Also thanks to Infineon for using MENCAP as the chosen charity for obsolete IT and lab sales.

April 2008 :

With gift aid, My total is now above £2000 ! .... however that was the easy part.  Over the next 6 months I need to collect a further £1500.

The training has started, Easter saturday on Pen Y Fan, followed by the first group training walk two weeks later.  The age range of the group is 16 to 70 (ish I guess !) - all of which finished the walk in fine style.

Ive added some pic's - eyes left.  All donators will have access to the complete photographic package on my return from Patagonia.

Look out for a number of events and auctions this summer

Feb 2008 :

The fund raising is going well, thanks to all of you ! ...the hard yards have started with regular visits to the gym, over Easter the hill walking training will start.  On the 5th of April there is a Mencap training walk somewhere in South Wales.

On a lighter note ... Triple Crown in Dublin !! .. and I have a ticket for what will be the Grand Slam show down against France on the weekend ...and before you ask, it isn't for sale :)
