Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Event Date: 10th August 2009
As you may be aware i am planning to ride the coast to coast off-road mountainbike route to raise money for The Acorns Childrens Hospice. The route consists of a 255 mile trek across the Lake District into the Pennines and finally finishing off in the Yorkshire Dales. It is renowned for being possibly one of the hardest off-road mountainbike routes in the UK if not the world.
On the 6th of January 2009 my nephew Daniel Slater passed away after being born with a rare but terminal illness known as SMA type 1. The care in which he received for the final five weeks of his life in The Acorns Hospice has inspired me to try and help raise some money.
The doctors, nurses and carers showed Daniel and my family just how important it is to have such places like The Acorns. Their love, respect and professionalism has truly humbled me and with your help we can hopefully give another family like ours the opportunity to use this wonderful facility.
Thank you for your support.
Below you will see the offline total which is increasing by the day, Dan's fund is supported by friends and family who are also raising money for Daniels daisy chain fund.
