Out of sheer laziness I've put off doing the 9 mile Dawn Walk for a few years but when I saw the date this year I thought it was fate - 4th August - it's my birthday. If I'm hauling my backside out of bed for a 4am registration I hope some of you won't find it too strenuous to reach into your pocket and donate.  

I'm asking family & friends to sponsor me rather than buy me birthday gifts this year (although I expect Mr K to be waiting at the finishing line with a glass of chilled champagne - everyone welcome).

I must thank my sister Nicky who could not think of an excuse quick enough when asked to be my walking buddy for the morning (timidity prevents me mentioning my other big sis who prompty replied no - cheers Dawn, even the walk is named after you!).

St David's Hospice based in Llandudno but with a large catchment area in North Wales offers excellent support with their services being an unfortunate necessity. Sadly, all of us will endure the brutality of breavement and we all have our own very personal experience to tell - this one is for you mum x
