Story
I have set myself quite a challenge, to become fit enough to spend two weeks trekking in the mountains of Nepal in November (possible altitude sickness and thermal-wear at night!) and fundraising for CHASE over the preceding months. I am funding my trip to , so that the money raised will go to CHASE.
Fundraising events - I want fundraising to be fun! so I organised a fun and informative girls night out at SAKS Hair and Beauty, Guildford on 26th April and £250 was raised for CHASE. A special thanks to Dee Thain and her team at SAKS and thanks to all who came along and helped to make this a most successful evening.
Barn dance at Manor Farm 10th June. Sponsored by Westpoint Veterinary Services, White and Sons, P W Humphrey, Lillico Attlee, Kingfisher Farm Shop at Abinger and Jaques Construction.
We had a six-piece band and 'caller', a delicious hog roast by Steve Conisbee and a raffle with 30 fabulous prizes. This was a wonderful night to remember and a great opportunity to see old friends and new.
We raised £2,313.52 on the night, this should have £647 gift aid =£2,960.52 plus £450 = Grand Total of £3,410.52 Thanks to all those who helped; preparing the farm, serving drinks, calling the raffle. Special Thanks to Steve and Lucy Conisbee for the fantastic hog roast and working like trojans, Barry and Margaret at Kingfisher Farm Shop for donating the salad and Marion for the beautiful flowers which gave the perfect finishing touch to the farm!
If you would like to make a donation through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CHASE Hospice Care for Children will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
CHASE is a children's hospice service, which exists to provide a network of care to families with life-limited children and young people in Surrey, and SW London . CHASE has supported 500 families since 1998 but there are almost the same number of families waiting for help.
Christopher’s, a purpose-built hospice near Guildford , provides nine bedrooms in a homely environment. Here families can spend time together, or the life-limited child can enjoy some independent respite. Christopher's is able to provide a high level of supportive respite together with palliative and end of life care. It costs £6,000 per day, £42,000 per week, £2.2m per year to run Christopher's.
The Community Care Team is specially trained and offers practical and emotional support to the entire family in their own home and local community; they are available to families 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. It costs £1,500 per day, £10,500 per week, and £550,000 per year to run the community team.
What a pound will buy at CHASE....
£10 will pay for dispensary bills for a day
£15 could pay for paints, paper and glue for the playgroup
£23 pays for one day of care for a family
£500 provides a fortnight's respite care for a child and their family at Christopher's
£1,000 for doctor's fees for a week
£1,500 covers the cost of operating the hydrotherapy pool for a month
£5,000 runs the minibus for a year.
A child's time may be limited but their lives needn't be. Please tell your friends and colleagues about my Himalayan challenge for CHASE and between us we can help make a difference.
Many thanks for your support.
Best wishes
Paula
