Story

This page is for people who know both Paul and Vera i.e. Arup people from Leeds!

On December 3rd 2008 we are going to climb the tallest free standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kili stands at a massive 5,895m.  To put this in to perspective Ben Nevis is 1,344m.

There will be a team of people from Arup participating in this event who aim to raise over £18,000 for Engineers Against Poverty.

We are each raising £1,500 each on our own and then another £3000 between the two of us = £3000 each!

EAP works with industry, government and civil society to fight poverty and promote sustainable development.   EAP believes that our generation has the resources, the technology and the know-how to eliminate extreme poverty – i.e. poverty that kills - within a generation. Although EAP commits itself to this task, it recognises that this is one part of a broader and more ambitious vision of global justice. EAP envision a future in which all poverty has been eliminated and where the structures of inequality and disadvantage have been irreversibly transformed so that all people share the benefits of development.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Engineers Against Poverty will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support!!!
