My story

I am Paul Atkinson a lay Chaplain with the national seafarers’ charity the Apostleship of the Sea. This year I have decided to take part in the prestigious Asics British London 10K run, scheduled on the 12th July 2009. I am running for the Apostlehsip of the Sea.

Like the other 26,000 participants I will complete this challenge aiming to secure much needed funds to enable Apostleship of the sea to continue providing practical welfare support to the seafarers who visit UK ports.

Apostleship of the Sea is the frontline service for the care of seafarers in the UK.

90 % of world trade is transported by ship. The life of modern seafarers can be dangerous and lonely. They may spend up to a year at a time away from home and their loved ones and too often they are working long hours in harsh conditions. Apostleship of the Sea are on hand to support them through this.

The charity relies wholly on voluntary contribution to continue, so I appeal to you to be as generous as you can.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Apostleship Of The Sea gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
