I am running the Vale Half-Marathon on 11 April to raise money for our work to help disadvantaged older people. I shall be running in celebration of the memory of my aunt Mary, a wonderful and generous lady who died in January at the age of 93. Please help me in any way you can.
Age Concern Oxfordshire works to ensure that wherever you live, however poor or poorly you may be, you will have comfort, opportunity and support: to have a life worth living. To achieve this goal we run a range of services: from assistance navigating the maze of entitlements and support available, to community clubs, footcare and help to get on-line, to several ways in which we offer friendship when it counts.
One such service is the work we do supporting people in their last few months. Our merger in April with the Oxfordshire Befriending Network will help us carry on their brilliant work with people of all ages who do not have that much time left. For this and our other services we seek statutory funding wherever we can. But we also depend upon the support of members of the public who see the purpose of this, and who agree with us: that there can be no more valuable support to offer people than helping them to live well until they die.
