My story

Parkinson's Disease Awareness week starts on 20th April 2009.  I am doing a 'bikeathon' event, using an exercise bike at the University Hospital of Wales concourse for the Pursue Appeal.  I am aiming to cycle 112KM in 5 hours, a distance that respesents the current 1112 PD sufferers treated at the Cardiff and Vale Parkinson's Disease clinic.

The Pursue(Parkinson's Unit) Appeal at Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust has the primary aim of funding a Tilt Table and Sway Monitor, sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment which will help better diagnose why any individual Parkinson's patient loses their balance. We will also be offering some support to enrich the quality of life of Parkinson Disease sufferers, their families and carers.

Our vision is to establish a Centre of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease which will deliver visionary care to patients in Cardiff and the Vale, and raise awareness of this condition across the region.

Pursue aims to raise £100,000 by March 2010. Making a donation now could change someone's life.

Any money donated through this page will be transferred directly to the Pursue fund in Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust's bank account and Gift Aid will be reclaimed if you are a UK taxpayer.
