Hi Everyone

Thank you for visiting my London Marathon 2011 justgiving page.

This year I will be taking part in the London Marathon for the 6th time. I've previously raised sponsorship for larger charities. However, on this occasion I have opted to support a smaller and more recently formed charity-The Katie Piper Foundation-www.katiepiperfoundation.org.uk.

The charity was founded by Katie Piper following a life changing event in March 2008. This resulted in Katie undergoing 40 operations and countless treatments and therapies. As a result of her experiences Katie was inspired to help and support others facing similar challenges.

The charity aims to provide help and advice for the many unheard and unseen people living with burns and disfigurement. Significantly this includes providing mentoring and emotional support. Dealing with the emotional effects can often be just as difficult as dealing with the physical.

I have previously recorded a best marathon time of 3 hours and 05 minutes. For this year I am trying to beat the magical 3 hour barrier(before I'm too old!). It will be VERY tough but I am already well into an 800 mile 16 week training programme around the streets of London to try and make this a reality.

Whilst pursuing this personal goal of mine it would be really great to raise some sponsorship to help others who face far more significant daily difficulties than me getting on my running shoes and sacrificing a few hours of television.

If you are kind enough to donate please have a guess as to the time you think I will run on the day. There will be a prize(which I will confirm soon) for the closest guess.

The big day is Sunday 17th April. It is one of the best days to visit London-the crowds are brilliant. I will be buying drinks at a location after the finish-further information to follow.

Thanks

Paul
