Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
In July 2008 I'll be going to the town of Mekelle in northern Ethiopia to teach English at the Abba Gebremichael Streetchildren Project. I'm really excited! I've never been to Africa before and I can't wait to get stuck in :)
The Rainy Season Summer School seeks to help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people (aged 9 - 20) gain access to, or stay within, the local government school system. With good English language skills the students stand a better chance of staying in school, gaining a qualification and ultimately securing a job. The project also seeks to build students' confidence, which is often affected by the insecurity and poverty in which they live.
I've been given this opportunity through my work with SCIAF, and although they're covering some of my costs I have a lot of work to do! I'd really like to raise enough so that the sisters who run the school can buy resources for the kids to use after we've gone.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
