engineers against poverty- kilimanjaro Trek 2008 · 3 December 2008 to 13 December 2008 ·

EAP works in the extractive industries, public sector infrastructure and engineering education, to fight poverty and promote sustainable development. It helps deliver practical benefits to poor people through creating jobs, promoting enterprise development and providing training.

Story

Hey Peeps,

On December 3rd 2008 I am going to climb the tallest free standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kili stands at a massive 5,895m.  To put this in to perspective Ben Nevis is 1,344m.

There will a team of people from Arup participating who aim to raise over £18,000 for Engineers Against Poverty.

I'm trying to rasie £1,500 on my own and £1,500 with a friend from work =  £3,000

EAP works with industry, government and civil society to fight poverty and promote sustainable development.   EAP believes that our generation has the resources, the technology and the know-how to eliminate extreme poverty – i.e. poverty that kills - within a generation. Although EAP commits itself to this task, it recognises that this is one part of a broader and more ambitious vision of global justice. EAP envision a future in which all poverty has been eliminated and where the structures of inequality and disadvantage have been irreversibly transformed so that all people share the benefits of development.
