Paul Sample completes the Bike Ride for Salisbury Hospice - sponsored by Stonehenge Cycles!


Former Leader of Salisbury District Council and ex Mayor of Salisbury, Paul Sample, has completed a 45 miles sponsored cycle ride round South Wiltshire.


Cllr Sample was sponsored by Stonehenge Cycles, of Fisherton Street, Salisbury.


The Salisbury Big Wheel sponsored cycle ride was held in aid of Salisbury Hospicecare and organised on behalf of Salisbury District Council by Bike Events Ltd.

John Lakeman of Salisbury Hospicecare, said “I very much appreciate the effort that Paul Sample, as Leader of the Council, put into the ride. I also want to thank Stonehenge Cycles for their support. We raised several thousands of £££s for the hospice.”

“Over the years the hospice has cared for several councillors and council employees.”


Cllr Sample rode in memory of his good friend and colleague Cllr Simon Howarth, who died at Salisbury Hospice in 2008.

 

Stonehenge Cycles provided two travelling mechanics for the event. Pip Brown from Stonehenge Cycles said “the hospice is a good cause and we were very pleased to support it.”

 

The Salisbury Big Wheel took place on Sunday, March 29 and included a 44-mile route for serious cyclists and 12-mile route for families. The event started and finished at Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
