C'mon The Millers!

Football to Amsterdam is the biggest ride - and the biggest party - in football. Backed by the English Football League and the League Managers Association.

When I began organising my 2016 ride for PCUK I just could not have imagined how many lives, of friends and acquaintances, have been affected by this illness. It was quite staggering, and certainly inspired me in the fund raising and on the ride.

Equally staggering, in the most positive sense, was the fund raising. Family, Friends, Colleagues, and (I love this expression) the Kindness of Strangers took us to an amazing total.

At the centre of the incredible amount raised, more than 3 times the original target, was The Gardeners Rest Pub.Pat and Eddie and their wonderful regulars and customers, were 'mentioned in despatches' more than once by the PCUK team, and on 3 consecutive months we were in the top 1% of Just Giving Donors in the country! And who can forget, sorry if you missed it, our smashing 'LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE GARDENERS REST' on the 20th March? Pat's mega-sponsored haircut, the beautiful scissors, etc. Fantastic! All the lovely people who donated the raffle prizes: Kitlocker, Planet X, Butterworths Bike Shop, Rotherham Utd. The support of the Sheffield Brewery and the Depot Bakery helped make it a real local affair.* Thanks to the Musicians, the Morris Dancers, a great number of 'helping hands': including Greg for Kitchenalia, Mick for the Football themed Bike Ride. And my darling Anu for everything always. XXX

* Well, it was a real family affair too. Three Suffolk lads made the 330 miles round trip to be with us on the day. X

One of my Number 1 supporters, in fact someone who has been there for me all of my life, won't be with us this time. My dearest big sister passed away a couple of weeks after the 2016 ride. She often told me how proud she was of her little brother, and I don't know if I ever said how proud I was of her. But, I am sure that she knew how much I loved her, and her lovely lot. So, as they say, 'This one's for you B-J.' XXX
