Heroes Charity Bike Ride – A Bridge Too Far
The charity
Help 4 Heroes needs no introduction from me, their work to support our injured servicemen
and women has become common knowledge and their achievements to date are simply
staggering. But for those of you who require more information on what this
worthwhile charity does and has achieved, visit their website at www.helpforheroes.org.ukAs part of
their fundraising efforts, and in order to challenge myself, I am taking part
in their “A Bridge Too Far” bike ride in September this year. This involves cycling from London to Arnhem,
a distance of 350 miles over 5 days (that’s 70 miles per day!), arriving in
time to take part in the Arnhem commemorative ceremonies.
So why,
other than raising money for a worthwhile charity, would I take on this challenge?
Well basically I have two good reasons. One, being in memory of my little
brother, Sgt Martin Tylor, AGC who sadly passed away in April 2004, but who lives on in his family and friends. Two, is that having visited both Baghdad
and Basra my
respect for our armed forces operating in those environments is
immeasurable. I cannot begin to imagine
the courage it takes to constantly go out on a patrol, or in a convoy knowing
that there is a very real likelihood that you, or one of your colleagues may be
injured, or worse, not return.
And it is
for those reasons, and because of the work that Help 4 Heroes does to support
those who are injured in the line of duty, that I am doing this (that, and hopefully I will be lot fitter at the end of it!). So I would simply
ask that you donate whatever you can to help me achieve my goal (which is to
raise £2,500.00), but more importantly to help and support our servicemen and women, especially those who have been injured.
Donating
through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe
with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you
donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid
is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most
efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs
for the charity.
Many thanks
for your support and generosity.
Paul Tylor
