Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon 2008 · 12 July 2008 ·

For 30 years now Honeypot has been providing tailored support for young carers and children aged 5-12 facing difficult circumstances. The children we support benefit from time away from daily responsibilities and stress, giving them the opportunity to relax, have fun and simply be children.

Story

Dig deep.........I  am taking part in The Artmeis Great Kindrochit Quadratholon in July. As you all know I am an elite athlete and as such this will be no trouble....yeah right!!!

Kicking off with a swim across Loch Tay, then 2500 metres of vertical ascent over 7 hills, followed by an 8 mile kayak and a quick cycle round Loch Tay...shouldn't take me more than about 12 hours!

So hands in pockets please.  Honeypot is a great charity and really provides for vulnerable children and young carers aged between 5 and 12, across the UK, through respite breaks and a programme of long term support. Without Honeypot, these children simply would not have the chance to have a break away from the difficulties of their home lives.

Check out http://youtube.com/watch?v=vkjss7TVYEs. You Tube - Amy's Story. Consider an 11 year old as the primary carer for her eplieptic mother. Mum fits 10 plus times a day, they live in a 1 bedroom flat in a tower block. Definitely struck a chord with me when I watched this Honeypot link.

There are 175,000 registered Young Carers in the UK and thousands more hidden. This year, Honeypot will help over 1,000 children to have a chance at childhood again.

Please help me help them.
