It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Most of the runners have been affected by pancreatic cancer either as patients, as family or friends of patients, by having lost someone to pancreatic cancer,  by being involved in treatment of patients or by researching the disease or related conditions. You can find out more about the team at http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/RHM06.htm

The patients Les Niewiara and Trace Allen made contact through Pancreatic Cancer UK and are able to share experiences of treatment and surgery. The charity provides a support network for carers, family and friends of patients as well as patients themselves.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival of any cancer - 1 year 13%, 5 year 2%. With 7000 deaths a year it is the 6th most common cause of cancer deaths in UK. However it has been neglected compared to the high profile cancers. Pancreatic Cancer UK is working for improvements by providing support and information to those affected by the disease as well as raising awareness and funds for research. It is vital that techniques are found for both earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment.

Funds are vitally needed for work to try to improve the survival rates and quality of life for pancreatic cancer patients and their families through research and improvements in diagnosis, treatment, support and information.

More information on pancreatic cancer and the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK can be found on the web-site http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk
