The Real Berlin Marathon 2008 · 28 September 2008 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

I will be running the Berlin Marathon this year for the BHF.  I have chosen this charity as I am dedicating the run to a dear friend of mine from university Nicola Samuel who tragically died months after graduating  from a heart attack aged just 22.  It will be the 10th anniversary of Nicky's death in 2008 and to show that she is gone but not forgotten I'll be running 26.2 miles in her memory and to create awareness of heart disease within the UK.

• Every two minutes someone, somewhere in the UK has a heart attack.

• Heart and circulatory disease is the most common cause of death in the United Kingdom.

• Over 2.6 million people in the UK are living with heart disease.

• Every two hours a baby is born with a heart defect, around half of whom will need treatment or surgery.

• Seven times as many women die of heart disease than breast cancer.

I have already raised £750 for the BHF by running the London marathon in April. I am aspiring to raise a further £250.00 for the British Heart Foundation by running Berlin.

I hope to finish the course in a time of 3 hours 30 minutes.   In order to train for Berlin I am going to be running the Brecon 10 and  Stockholm Half Marathon.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Your donation will go towards

• Pioneering Research

• Support and Care for Heart Patients

• Helping People Live Healthier Lives

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Paul
