NICHS is leading the fight against chest, heart and stroke illnesses in NI. We provide support for people affected, and work to prevent these illnesses by delivering health checks and health promotion programmes, funding research and campaigning for improved care, treatment and awareness.

Story

On Monday 4th May this year I will be running in the Belfast City Marathon to raise money for the NI Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS) Association. I am in no doubt how difficult this will be and have been pounding the streets since the beginning of the year in an effort to get in some sort of shape for the race. I've even given up the usual Friday evening apres-work drinks so I can get up early each Sat morning for a long run - which should be a sign of how seriously I am taking this challenge, and those of you that know me well will know how difficult I have found this

Each year in Northern Ireland almost 10,000 people die from Chest, Heart and Stroke illnesses and scarcely a family in our community, including my own, have not been affected in some manner by one of these illnesses. The aim of NICHS association is to promote the prevention of and alleviate the suffering resulting from chest heart and stroke related illnesses.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please be generous and give what you can, your support and encouragment are greatly appreciated.
