From the bottom of our hearts.</p> <p>We need you to sponsor us to climb <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Mount Everest</span></strong> in aid of <strong><span style="color: #99cc00;">Darul Fadilah</span><span style="color: #99cc00;">, Gaza</span></strong>. After you've made your donation, check out the <a href="http://oneummahunited.wordpress.com/"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Ummah United blog</span></strong></a> and subscribe to updates on this crazy challenge!</p> <p><strong>Remember <span style="color: #ff0000;">100%</span> of your donation goes to the cause as the cost of this challenge will be partially covered by our own contributions and Gift Aid - so if you're a taxpayer make sure you tick to add Gift Aid your donation at no extra cost to you!</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Why are we doing this?!?</strong></span><br /> Many of you will remember the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=99610102596"><span style="color: #339966;"><strong>Ummah United Snowdon Trek</strong></span></a> that took place in June 2009, set up in response to this <span style="color: #000000;"><strong><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olKmVc14GaY">Islamic Help appeal in aid of <span style="color: #99cc00;">Darul Fadilah</span> in Gaza</a></strong></span>.<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;;"> </span>It may seem like a long time ago but in reality it's only been a year-and-a-half since we climbed <span style="color: #333399;"><strong>Mount Snowdon</strong></span>, and now Ummah United are back to take on the biggest mountain in the world, climbing many other peaks along the way, all to raise funds for the people of Palestine, insha-Allah.<br /> <br /> <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>The big blow </strong></span><br /> At 0300 on 12th January 2009, <strong><span style="color: #99cc00;">Darul <span class="highlight">Fadilah</span> (House of Virtue)</span></strong> in Rafah, Gaza, was bombed by 7 Israeli missiles, which pulverised this once magnificent building.</p> <p><strong><span style="color: #99cc00;"><span class="highlight">Darul</span> <span class="highlight">Fadilah</span></span></strong> was a <strong><span style="color: #339966;">home and school for 500 orphan boys and girls</span></strong>, some as young as 4 and a <strong><span style="color: #00ccff;">masjid which catered for over 2000 people</span></strong> and conducted a programme where 4,000 children memorised the Qur&rsquo;an. It was a <strong><span style="color: #ff9900;">training and community centre</span></strong>, providing a valuable service to the thousands of women in the area, and a <strong><span style="color: #339966;">medical centre</span></strong> which provided primary medical care for the locals.</p> <p>In a nutshell, it was a huge asset to the Palestinian community of Rafah and, like so many other things, one that was taken from them by brute force. <br /> <strong><br /> <span style="color: #ff0000;">The big news</span></strong> <br /><span style="color: #000000;"><span class="highlight">Alhumdu-lillah, the project has made a lot of progress as <strong><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwmNTD_ySGI">you can see from this video</a></strong>, but </span></span><strong><span style="color: #99cc00;"><span class="highlight">Darul</span> <span class="highlight">Fadilah</span></span></strong> and the people of Gaza still need our support. Insha-Allah,&nbsp; after months of planning the <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Everest</span></strong> challenge has been confirmed and all proceeds will be put towards this great project. It's going to cost <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>&pound;2.5million</strong></span> in all, so there's a lot of fundraising and work to be done! <br /> <br /> Please forward the link to all your family and friends who donated, made du'a or supported this cause in anyway. Barak Allahu feekum.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
