Story

On 16th June 2012, seven courageous employees from Portsmouth Water LTD are setting off to Wales and braving the elements to raise money for WaterAid.

The group are joining hundreds of others from around the country to complete the WaterAid 200 challenge. The idea behind the WaterAid 200 challenge is to have at least one team member reach the summit of the 200 highest peaks in the UK on the same day.

The adventure will see Portsmouth Water employees Tara Ashworth, Paul Fuller, Anna Ryan, Lai-Yui Tsui, Conor Geogehan, Jo Hall and Matt Lee head down the M4 and over the Severn Bridge into the wilderness of Snowdonia (Also known as Eryri, meaning Highlands). The ultimate aim being to climb the 1.085m to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales.

Snowdonia was formed by rocks produced by volcanoes in the Ordovician period, and the massif has been extensively sculpted by glaciations, forming the pyramidal peak of Snowdon. Also known as 'probably the busiest mountain in Britain', Snowdon and Snowdonia attract around 6 million visitors annually and is designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna.

The team of seven will be looking to raise in excess of £5000 for the charity. Although there will only be six of them on the mountain on the 16th June, they will be looking for support from the company and its customers to achieve their 'mountanious' goal.

Any fundraising ideas or donations will be gratefully received.

Many thanks for your support
