Story

Event postponed due to heavy rain flooding roads.
New date Sunday 12th July.

Hi, I'm Peter,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On Sunday 7th June 2009 is WheelPower's annual charity bike ride - Mix 96 Tour de Vale. It takes place at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

As I can no longer ride a bicycle because of a spinal cord injury, I am going to ride the 30 mile route on my handcycle. So I will go further than a marathon, but propel myself using only my arms. Please, please, please sponsor me. WheelPower does a great job helping people with disabilities get active in wheelchair sports.

For many disabled people, getting involved in sport helps give a purpose back to their life. It also takes them from a life where opportunities often do not exist, to the freedom of not being confined in their normal environment. I cannot emphasise enough how important sport can be to people with disabilities. YOU can make a BIG difference to their lives.

In case you did not realise, my handcycle is technically a wheelchair! I know, it does not look much like a wheelchair, but when I imported my first handcycle from the USA it had "Wheelchair" on the customs declaration. It might be interesting to try and fit it in the wheelchair spaces on a bus!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WheelPower gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
