Story

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path Challenge 2007

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor our team online.

So what is the challenge?  Our team, consisting of 4 members, will be walking the entire Pembrokeshire Coast Path covering over 186 miles (299km) of the most spectacular coastal scenery in stretching from St Dogmaels in the North to Amroth in the South. The path follows an indented coastline, the ups and downs of which total 35,000 feet of ascent and descent which will mean that by the end of the challenge we will have climbed the equivalent of Mt Everest. We are starting the challenge on Friday 31st August and ending on Saturday 8th September 2007 giving us only 9 days to finish what the majority of websites say will take two or more weeks to complete! Each day we will be covering over 20 miles carrying everything needed to survive in the wilds of Pembrokeshire.

Why are we doing this challenge?  As you may already know 2 members of the team ran the Los Angeles Marathon in 2006 raising, thanks to very generous sponsorship, over £3,500 for Cancer Research UK and we thought another fund raising event was now in order. We have choosen to walk the Pembrokehsire Coast Path as a tribute to the  father of one our team members who died of cancer earlier this year. By walking the coastal path from North to South we will end the challenge near Swansea where he lived and died.

Please get in touch with us for further details.                                                                                                                 I just want to take this opportunity to say a big thank from myself and the team for any kind donations towards our target of £10,000 and I will, of course, send you a newsletter following the challenge with picture etc capturing the 9 days. If you think this is a worthy cause then please forward this web site to anyone you know who might like to sponsor us.

You can also see photographs of the team and weekly updates including funny training blogs leading up to the challenge on www.myspace.com/pembschallenge2007                                                    Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor our team now!

Many thanks for your support.
