Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. A thousand miles start with one step – so I decided to take a few to help a great charity and their cause. Along with 19 fellow fundraisers and the mountain guides from Adventure Fitness Company, I trekked up Cadair Idris* on June 5th to raise funds for The Animals Asia Foundation, a registered charity that campaigns for the suffering bears, dogs and cats in .
Cadair Idris or Cader Idris is a mountain in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, that lies at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park and at 893 metres (2,930 ft) is equivalent to trekking Mount Snowdon. We were very luck with the weather this year as you can see from the pictures and I even got a little sun burned!
The trek might be over but you too can still help. Donations can still be made and will go straight to Animals Asia Foundation. The funds allow them to continue their work, which includes providing rescued moon bears with the best of care and allow them to finally live the lives they deserve.
Never heard of Animals Asia? Then read on...
In countries across , thousands of bears live a life of torture on bear farms, so that their bile can be extracted and used in traditional medicine. Through the campaigning and work of this charity, over 300 bears have already been rescued and 42 farms closed. The charity also runs several Moon Bear Rescue Centres, where these beautiful animals are professionally cared for and can live a happy and safe life. They also campaign for the welfare of companion animals.
