As some of you may know, <span style="color: #1d1d1d;">we have probably quite foolishly decided to run the London marathon in April. With just under a month to go it's getting close and time things start getting serious! We are running for the charity Jesuit Missions that helps causes all around the world.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #1d1d1d; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">We are raising money for drug rehabilitation programmes in Georgia, Guyana. Drug addiction is a significant social problem in Georgetown, Guyana, especially amongst young men. With a lack of jobs and opportunities available many are drawn into the drugs trade. They are promised money but often their &lsquo;salary&rsquo; is part payment in drugs. This leads to addiction and they become trapped in a vicious cycle. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="color: #1d1d1d; font-family: Arial; font-size: 19px;">The Jesuits are supporting projects in Guyana that give young men a chance to turn their lives around. Based in Georgetown, these young men as well as some women now have a safe place where they can come for counseling, food and shelter. After a year the Jesuits help them to find work but continue to stay involved in their recovery and help manage their money. In many cases those that first came to receive help are now assisting newer arrivals with their recovery. It costs &pound;120 a month to provide care and services to one person. Your sponsorship money will go towards these costs and give many young men and women the chance to begin to rebuild their lives.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #1d1d1d; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #1d1d1d; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Another friend of ours Rupert Jolleys is also running the marathon, so if you are feeling especially generous please give his page a visit!
