I have decided to run for Burrswood because of the enormous amount of help it has given me personally in recent months, and of it's tremendous impact in the lives of countless others. The hospital provides expert medical and christian pastoral care, and was founded by Dorothy Kerin in 1948, herself miraculously healed from tuberculosis and its complications, and who at the time was almost totally comatose. The care facilities of Burrswood include post-operative, respite and palliative, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, chronic fatigue syndrome, certain acute illnesses and depression, convalescence and counselling. Its team of chaplains provide the spiritual pastoral care that is at the very heart of the hospital ethos. The funds raised will go directly towards the Burrswood Phase V Appeal to completely refurbish, update and widen its facilities.
Personally speaking, it has helped me to get back on my feet spiritually and mentally, from being a depressed, suicidal wreck to someone who now has real inner peace and healing. Burrswood has helped me to overcome many real difficulties that previously had been blocking essential spiritual growth. It has been a vital tonic for the soul, and my love for the Lord has been revived in so many ways. Talk about a thorough spiritual spring clean!
