Hi Guys
We are both taking part in the "Great Midlands FUN RUN" on Sunday 6th June 2010, and are raising money for an incredible charity called "BREAST FRIENDS" who support women with Breast Cancer and their families.
"BREAST FRIENDS" is a charity run by volunteers, Women who have "Been There", they know that you cannot predict when Cancer will hit you, and how your life is at the time.
They listen, "just listen" --- No form filling
When someone is struck down with this cancer there is a chance that that person can no longer work, and that means less income coming into the house, This can cause financial problems, especially if there are children in the household.
This is where "BREAST FRIENDS" can help so much
They can provide many essential things
* Equipment such as --- Specialised Chairs, Mattresses, Stair Lifts
* Essential Household Items
* Family Holidays
* Child Care
But the key thing is that the decisions are made by the volunteers themselves --- not a penny raised is wasted on bureaucracy or useless leaflets, and decisions are immediate.
This charity is close to our hearts as we have close friends and family who have either been through Breast Cancer, or who are at present going through it.
We would both be extremely grateful if you would "Dig Deep" in your pockets and make a donation to this wonderful charity, it really doesn't matter how much, or how little you donate. { Every Pound Counts }
Please help us get to our target of £500.00.
Many Many thanks

For those of you who don,t know about the Great Midlands Fun Run -- Read On
The Great Midlands Fun Run is 8.5 Mile Run / Walk or Jog through Sutton Coldfield and Sutton Park, It has a maximum entry level of 6000 people and already all 6000 places have been taken by people from across the UK and Europe.
The 8.5 miles are mainly tarmac and include many inclines, including the infamous "CARDIAC HILL" which you approach after 6.5 miles, thankfully the last 1.5 miles are either downhill or level.
This event is the biggest and furthest that either of us have ever done before. and we will both be running the full distance { even Cardiac Hill } and are currently training very hard for the event which we are both looking forward to.
I am hoping to achieve a time of around 1 Hour 15 Minutes, which I know for all you young fitness fanatics and ex Marathon Runners sounds like a long time, but for me, who currently has a dodgy knee, this would be a real achievement. { although I did do my daughter's school "10K Fun Run" last week in "51Minutes 33 Seconds" a time with which I was very pleased with }
Maria thinks she will do it in a time of around 1 Hour 30 Minutes, I think she'll do it in less.
Anyway must dash ------- Need to go for a run ------- you know what people say "Practice makes perfect"
Will keep this page updated with any more news and how much we have raised to date, and will let you all know how we did on the day and what times we did
Many thanks again

UPDATE 26/5/10
Now that I am getting Broadband again { Been without it for nearly a week } I can give you guys an update
"YOUV'E BEEN FANTASTIC" So far you have raised £265.00 --- Many Many Thanks
I've did a 8 Mile run last night and that took me "1 hour 14 mins and 20 secs" which on that form means that I would not acheive my target of 1 Hour and 15 Mins { I need to get out on those roads } I also stupidly did a 7 Mile run on Sunday in that extreme heat,{ took me 1 Hour & 8 Minutes } I really hope that it is not that hot on the day of the Fun Run.
So far the knee problem is holding out
Mind you when I calculated that I could acheive 1 Hour & 15 Mins I hadn't taken into account that there are 6000 runners setting of at the same time, and as a friend pointed out to me last week, you don't actually "RUN" for the first half a mile until everybody spreads out, so my origional target isn't looking to hopeful, but I am going to give it my best shot anyway.
Will give you another update next week.
Many thanks again for ALL your donations, it really is very much appreciated
King Regards
Pete

Keep the donations coming in, So far £375.00 --a big thank you to all of you who have donated,
Many thanks again
Kind regards
Pete

UPDATE -- 2nd June 2010 @ 23.47pm
Went for a 8.5 mile run tonight --- 1 Hour, 17 Minutes and 40 Seconds, a bit behind my target time of 1 Hour and 15 Mins, considering I've to fight through 6000 runners at the start line, and it's supposed to be about 25 degrees on Sunday so I reckon my time is going to be nearer 1 Hour 20 Mins if I'm lucky,
Maria did a 7.4 Mile run today as well and did that in 1 Hour 11 Mins so she is on for her target of 1 Hour and 30 Mins
Anyway we will see what we can do on the day
We are up to £440.00 so far " AMAZING" -- Thank -you all so much
Oh well!!! Next time I update this page we will have done the Fun Run,so I will be putting our times up for you all to see and will let you know the final figure regarding the fundraising
Many thanks again for all your support
Kind Regards
Pete & Maria

HOORAY ----- WE DID IT
Yes it was hot, but it was FANTASTIC
We had a wonderful day, there were so many people lining the streets, some with their Garden Hosepipes on keeping everyone cool as they ran past, and without doubt it was the crowds that spured us on.
No official times yet, but my time was around 1Hour & 12 Minutes so that's under my target time which is great, and Maria's time we think was around 1 Hour & 25 Minutes, if that's correct then that is under her target time as well.
{Will give you the official times as and when we get them}
Both of us ran the full 8.5 Miles including the infamous "CARDIAC HILL" and we are just so pleased that we completed the course on the day.
But more importantly "YOU" have helped us raise £540.00 for BREAST FRIENDS and there is still some more to come,
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Kind Regards
Pete & Maria
