Story
Dear Supporter,
Well just made it! What a day the crowds were amazing and had a lot of excellent coverage for the Charity which made it all worth while! Have blisters on my feet, back and shoulders along with my thighs being a darker shade of purple from bruising. I did feel like I had gone through 15 rounds with Mike Tyson when I woke up this morning.
It was very hot on the day but I can not believe the support I had and also all the support on my just giving site, thank you to you all !!!!!
It was nice to speak to Denise Lewis half way round and have featured in a couple of papers, not sure about being called a "fatigued military fundraiser" LOL, but at my age what can you expect!
Until the next one thank you all so much for your support and generous words ! Please keep the charity in mind and all the good work they are doing and if you get a chance to take part in a charity event please think about doing it for the "Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust" as it wll make a difference !!!!
Yours faithfully

Got my running number and booked in at Excel centre, no turning back now ! Also filmed by BBC Local news today and should be on the news lunch and evening time on Saturday 16th so look out for a short ginger haired (blonde really) bloke with a washing machine on his back, on your TV!
I have been sponsored very kindly by Unilever, Persil washing powder so gained a bit more weight with a box (empty I may add) of Persil on the top of the washing machine, many thanks to all from Unilever !
I would also like to thank my other two sponsors, Charter Systems and Premier Plus Ltd independent financial advisers, along with all of you who have sponsored me, please spread the word to like minded people.
I am going to be at Histon Football Club on Saturday (16th) at the game with Wimbledon FC which should be great. Running round the pitch a couple of times with the Mascots which should be fun! Also going to do an article for the non league football paper which comes out Sunday morning!
Lastly went for a run with the washing machine, backs killing me , not a good sign, but in for a penny as they say!!!

Just a few days away now and getting very nervous, I dont know what is worst thinking about the pain or just trying to focus and finish! I am feeling stronger and fitter this year and my preperation has been a lot better so I am sure I will get there and enjoy it all! I am expecting to hit at least two walls but if I am lucky enough to get stopped and interviewed on Tower Bridge again by the TV crew. I think I wont look as bad as I did last year! I had just hit my first wall of pain when I ran past them and they called me back to be interviewed. As long as it gets a bit more support for the Trust thats the main thing. I would also like to thank all of you who have donated to the Trust along with the kind words I have had, not to mention the odd mention of being not all there!!!!
Hope to be updating the site with the good news and time I have finished in at the week end, also to get to see some of you either on the course or along the route. Once again many thanks for your support for the Trust !!!

Where it all started,
Last year you may remember me as the "The Fridge Man" as I ran the London Marathon 2010 with a domestic Fridge on my back raising money for the Royal British Legion. This year it is my distinct honour to be able to run the marathon in support of "The Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust" on the 17th of April 2011.
As an ex 1 Para soldier it is my chance to support the Regiments soldiers and their families who served with the Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan and who have been wounded or killed as a consequence.
How are you running this year, I hear you ask? I have decided to really go for it this year and I am already in training. I will be running with a "Washing Machine" on my back! I hope this will not only raise valuable funds for the trust but also raise the profile of it and the excellent work they are doing. With this in mind I would ask you to contribute what ever you can afford and also tell as many friends and family of my quest to raise money, but more importantly spread the word of my Just giving site for the trust.
I will endeavour to post pictures of me with the washing machine and give regular updates on the progress of my training!
So please dig deep and donate now.
Yours Sincerely
Pete Digby
