An award-winning organisation that defends the rights of indigenous Quechua young people and artisans in the Andes of Peru.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm attempting to cross South America East to West, solo and on foot, from the Atlantic coast in Brazil to the Pacific coast in Peru, following the mighty Amazon river from sea to source to sea, primarily as a personal challenge, but I also wanted to give something back to the host countries I'm planning to traverse.

I found out about Amantani a few years ago, and was very impressed with their incredible work in helping some of the poorer isolated children get to a remote school and helping with their education whilst encouraging indigenous autonomy and cultural pride.

Amantani were also named Latin America human rights orginisation of the year 2013.

I hope to visit the charity in Ccorca Peru as I approach the source of the Amazon as it's very close to the route I'm planning to walk.

This gives me more motivation to push on with my challenge, knowing i will be helping others in the process. So please, if you can afford to, make a donation.

Thank You! x

 Pete
