Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well it's all over now. We had a great time and all managed to get round ok. The weather was good apart from a shower of rain near to the finish. I managed to beat my target time of 2 hours by nearly 8 minutes so I'm delighted with that. Feeling a bit sore today but nothing that won't fix with deep heat and ibuprofen!

Thanks to all of you who have donated so far. Having seen some of what the trust do for their clients when we were at the start of the race I can tell you it's a fantastic charity. If you haven't got round to setting up a donation I can assure you the money is well spent and because it's a small charity the clients benefit from a very high proportion of the cash.

Thanks again.

Peter and girls.

Having tapped you all for donations earlier in the year for my annual 10k in Edinburgh  I thought I better step up to half marathon distance to hope to get you to be so generous twice in a year!

Well, I've done the training and it's looking ok for me to head off up to Aviemore bright and early in the morning this Sunday 18th October to do just that. Two of my daughters Ruth and Helen will be running for Maggie's Centres (Helens' Just Giving Page for your donations too if you like!)  and my eldest daughter Sally will be providing family support. The Aviemore Half Marathon takes place in sight of the magnificent Cairngorms and, all being well, the views on the way round will help to ease us along the route.

This time I'm raising funds for a local charity. The Speyside Trust, based at Badaguish Cairngorm Outdoor Centre is a small independent charity helping children and adults with learning difficulties and other special needs - they love the challenge of the outdoors too!

The Trust badly needs funds to further develop its respite care activity holidays and work experience/vocational training programmes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

If you prefer to do cash rather than on-line donation I'm happy to take anything you can afford !

Thanks very much

Peter
