Story

On May 26 I will set off with thousands of other runners in the Edinburgh marathon.  I’ll be running the 26.2 miles for the Students’ Association Bursary Fund, which provides bursaries for students who would otherwise be financially unable to go to St Andrews.

Having had the privilege of attending very good schools I really connected with the aims of the Bursary fund.  Wanting to give back to the community that I have grown in so much these last two years I found this was a great way to get involved and ensure others can have the same experiences I’ve had.  The older I get the more I value education, and spending last summer teaching in Tanzania only strengthened this view.  St Andrews is one of the finest universities in the land and yet eligible students have to turn it down because of the high cost of living here.  It’s not a good scenario, and that’s why I’m proud to run 26 miles in support of the Bursary fund.

I’m aiming to raise £600 for the Bursary fund, and any donation is helpful, from £2 - £20.  We’ve started training already, and I’m aiming to run the marathon in 3 hours and 30 minutes (which requires a pace of 8 minutes/mile for the duration of the course).  Thanks for reading this and thanks for donating!
