Sadly this page is no longer active, if however you would like to donate to my biggest challenge, Everest Base camp in 2013, please visit; www.justgiving.com/PeterBartyEverestBC

Thanks to everyone who's helped others via this page.

Update; 16/10/11 Home to the family after a life changing trip to Kili, yep I did it. By a mile the hardest physical challenge Ive ever done, amazing, exhausting, and mind bendingly tough. I am so pleased we did it as a team, and over the moon with the amount raised, as a group we raised in excess of £100k for Macmillan. Staggering.

Thanks to everyone who's donated, helped and supported.

Whats next? Well thats tough to beat, but I'll be doing the London Marathon in April 2012, all the long 26.2 miles of it!, and Everest Base Camp is looking more and more likely for 2013.

Keep track of my London Marathon progress on http://www.justgiving.com/PeterBartydoesLondon

You can now donate by text!! Text "PETE71 £1" OR £2, £3, £4, £5 OR £10 to 70070. How easy is that! Go on...

Great North Run update 18/9/11 1hour 48 minutes, great race, loads of Macmillan runners...

Barn Dance update; thanks to everyone who came and were so wonderful and generous, What a laugh! With online donations made as a result, the evening raised about £1000, amazing. A massive amount which will make a massive difference. Thanks.  If you couldnt make the night, my speech is the video on here.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Back in November '09 I was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer in my upper arm.  I was swiftly operated upon with my upper arm bone being replaced with a stainless steel prosthesis (see photo!). I have permanent limitations on my shoulder now and faced up to a year of physio to get it to its full capability. I am currently clear and have regular monitoring. My family and I were given tremendous suport from Macmillan during a very worrying and emotional time. As a thank you to Macmillan, to help them help others and to focus my rehabilitation I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania next year to raise funds.

The climb lasts for seven days peaking at an altitude of 5,896 metres, Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. All the money raised will go toward Macmillan as I will be paying for the trip myself, and spending my 40th birthday on the way up!

Additionally I have taken part in the Purbeck Plod, and the Winchester Pedal, Paddle, Pace event with two colleagues (see pics) and completed the Great South Run 2010 in 84 minutes and the Gosport Half Marathon in 1hr 48 minutes.

Just before the Great South Run, I learnt I need further reconstructive surgery in December on my shoulder, starting back at square one with my physio once im out of a sling three months after surgery. This was difficult to come to terms with after working so hard last year, but I am determined to get up that bloody mountain!

update April '11 - Finally out of a sling after 3 months. Physio kicks in now. While I was off I organised the Barn Dance in aid of Macmillan on September 10th in Fareham.
