Leech & Co have 14 runners in this year's 10K. We thought rather than loads of individual sponsorship forms we would pick one charity for all of us.
This year Claire Taylor suggested Parkinson's Disease.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive and neurological condition which affects movement. It occurs as a result of a loss of nerve cells in the brain which do not allow messages to be sent to the parts of the brain that co-ordinate movement. There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s disease and the cause of the disease is unknown. One in 20 people under 40 each year are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
As there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, drugs are used to control the symptoms. A significant amount of research is being carried out to develop new and improved drug therapies to help manage Parkinson’s.
We need to raise money to help and support research to help care for people with Parkinson’s disease and to achieve the goal of improving the lives of people affected by the condition.
