Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I have now completed my ride, clocking a total of 897 miles and arriving in John O'Groats - as I arrived in every single nightstop - in warm sunshine.  On most days I recorded a "phlog" or "phonecast" about the day's story and if you want to listen to these retrospectively you will find them at www.ipadio.com/phlogs/peterking

Thanks to your generosity I reached my  "stretch" target of £10,000 five days before I even set off from Land's End!  Thank you so much to everybody who donated so generously and quickly to enable me to do this.  All future donations will be a real bonus and every penny will be put to good use by this vital charity as all of my expenses were covered by generous commercial supporters and out of my own pocket.

On 22nd May 2009 I set off from Land's End to ride over 850 miles to John O'Groats where I arrived on 29th May.  In so doing I fulfilled a promise made five years ago to Professor Roger Kirby when he removed my cancerous prostate and thereby gave me a new lease of life - namely that I would celebrate five years of that new life by undertaking a serious fundraising cycling challenge.  Without Roger's skill and the research work and support of the charity of which he is the President I may not have been able to ride my bike at all today, let alone take on the infamous End to End challenge.

To maximise both the challenge and the revenue I did not have any following or supporting vehicles and I travelled to Land's End at the start and home from John O'Groats at the finish by public transport.  Several friends, colleagues and other local cyclists previously unknown to me turned out to ride some stretches with me to support and encourage me and I am grateful to all of them for easing the way for me.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Prostate UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

If you haven't done so already - please sponsor me now!
