My story
BIN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THE T-SHIRT.
Just a short message to anyone who looks at the page now it is all over. What a fantastic experience. 5hours 42 minutes 13 seconds of pure fun. I enjoyed every second. Thanks to you all and thanks also must go to Rozina at Coeliac Uk and to Glutafin. I have now got a personal best to beat. I wonder if I will be free April 13th next year. Might have to have another go and hopefully the DLR won`t breakdown like it did this year.
Why did I enter the London Marathon? Well, every year since the very first London Marathon I have watched the start and said how much I fancied having a go and then sat down and waited for the feeling to pass. Three years ago I repeated my assertions only to be told by my wife, Liz, that "I say that every year so why don`t I do something about it instead of pretending! " Now, those of you who know me will know I like a bit of a challenge and so three years later, here I am. While I am running I thought it would be a good idea (yes, another one of them !) to raise some money and as my mother suffers from Coeliac disease as do friends Jane, Gemma and Michael what better cause than Coeliac UK.
I am doing my bit by pounding the streets of Lymington for my training and I would like you to help me by pounding your wallets, (clever link that), to urge me on. Like everyone else there is much training to be done, particularly in my case as athletisism is not one of my more natural attributes but I shall get there with your support.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. The pain you feel from opening the wallet, taking out the card and picking up the phone is not half of what I anticipate I will feel after 26.2 miles.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Coeliac UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
My charity
