<div><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: small;">In mid October 2011, four of us, (Phil & Cathie Beevers, Theresa Jackson, and Ted George) have decided to stretch ourselves by attempting three of Nepal’s greatest treks. Our quest is to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research UK. The reason is simple – each one of us has been touched in some way by this dreadful disease and would like to do something to help. Cathie (Phil’s wife) lost her mother and Ted his father to Lung Cancer. Theresa’s mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in her later years. Phil, lost his Mother, Brother and Sister-in-law to Cancer and in 2009, he developed a Cancer on the base of his tongue. After ground breaking treatment at QE Hospital in Birmingham he is now in remission. All of us have many friends who have been touched in someway by Cancer.</span></span></div>

One in three people will develop Cancer during their lifetime, and to be told you have Cancer is one the toughest things most of us will ever face. </span></span></div>

Many people with Cancer can now be cured but many types of Cancer still have distressingly low rates of survival. With more research it might be possible to greatly improve people’s life chances, and this is the area that we want to help with. Our trek is to raise money for Cancer Research UK.</span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 1.6pt 0pt 0cm;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK and to spread awareness of the wonderful work they do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In October 2011 we aim to complete the Annapurna circuit, the circuit is a classic trek in central Nepal that stretches around the Annapurna Mountains in the Himalayas. The trek begins at low elevation and climbs up to 5,416 metres (17,769ft) crossing Thorung La Pass, the biggest mountain pass in the world before plunging down into the </span><span style="font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-ansi-language: EN;">Gandaki</span><span style="font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN;"> valley the </span><span style="font-family: Arial;">worlds deepest river valley. We will also be going to see the Dhaulagiri Icefall Along the way it passes through dozens of lowland and high mountain villages, visiting many Buddhist monasteries and Hindu Temples while walking through some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the world. We will visit Lake Tilicho </span><span style="font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN;">4,949 m</span><span style="font-family: Arial;"> (16,236ft) the highest lake in the world and attempt to climb to the Annapurna Base Camp 4,130m (13,549ft).</span></span></div>
