Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January 2011, Brenda (my wifes Mum) lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. I hadnt realised how invasive and little cured this illness is - see: www.pcrf.org.uk for more information. I wanted to do something positive to celebrate her life and support a worthy organisation trying to raise awareness and find a cure for this debilitating and destructive disease.

When the picture opposite was taken, Bren had been diagnosed and new the disease had taken hold. Throughout her illness she never once complained or blamed, but dealt with the disease in her own way.

Forty years ago 3% of those diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer survived 5 years or more. That figure remains today at 3%.

In January 2012 I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - this is to celebrate a life 'well lived' , support a worthy cause and possibly a bit of male menopause ..... at 55 the years seem to be evaporating at an alarming rate and I have a few things to achieve before this mortal coil is shed. I am not sure at this moment if I will reach the top, but will definately give it my best shot. I am sure though that any donation you make will go toward finding a cure for this disease - so please take a moment to follow the links, make whatever donation you feel appropriate and take a stand against this destructive illness.

Many thanks for your support, I will be updating this page over the next month or so and will send out reminders.

We have recently had an article published in theEastwood and Kimberley advertiser - many thanks to Kevin Palmer - Kevin Palmer Media Services who gave his time and services free to raise the profile of this debilitating disease, take a look at: http://www.eastwoodadvertiser.co.uk/news/eastwood-kimberley-news/kilimanjaro_charity_trek_1_4060132 dodgy picture of man with boots :-)

Should you feel the urge, please do not hesitate to give me a call, or drop me an e.

Take care and thanks for your help.
