Story
Hi One and All,
So I've done a bit of running the last few years to keep the love handles at bay and heart a pumping. And whilst I've spent some time in the Pyrenees, the beast that is Canigou has stared down, trying to tempt me to run the famous Championnat du Canigou mountain race . The race honours those inhabitants of Vernet-Les-Bains who in the early 20th century before the time of fridges and freezers, would run up the mountain, cut blocks of ice off the hillside and run the load back down to the thermal spa town to sell to wealthy visitors.
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page and also to The London Fire Brigade & The Fire Fighters Charity
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

As you may know we've had some dealings with Mesothelioma (form of cancer casued by exposure to asbestos) in recent months and therefore I thought what better way to raise a few spondoolies for the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund than to signup and try and complete this run for charity. Hopefully if our legs give out before the summit (half way point) we'll still be able to drag ourselves to the top and back down with my arms when we remember what we're doing it for.
Having never done anything quite as ridiculous as this before, I suggested it to Kev (long time friend and mad runner extraordinaire) who as expected was keen as mustard as soon as I mentioned it. And there the challenge was set -
Distance: 21 miles
Height: 2784m
Temp: Hot
Record: 3.02 hrs
If you can please sponsor us and no matter what the contribution, every penny counts and will hopefully go towards finding out more about this life changing disease.
