Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
After a hectic weekend delighted to say all members of the family made it over the line safely. On Saturday morning Joseph and Grace completed their first run ever after being given a send off by Usain Bolt. Megan and Eleanor then completed the Junior Run in 31st and 125th place respectively.
On Sunday Julie and I joined 33,000 others taking part in the 10k. As expected Julie was first over the line in 45:59 which placed her 140th of the women taking part and I managed 46:32 which was my best for 17 years so not too unhappy.
We ran to raise money for Christie's which you will see below is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. We have a particular connection to Christie's because Julie was treated there last year when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The care she received was exceptional both for its quality but also for the unfailing warmth shown to us by all of the staff there. In addition to this, Christie's suffered last year as a result of the collapse of the Icelandic bank, Kaupthing which led to it losing £7.5m which had been earmarked for new research centres. In spite of a major campaign there has been no sign of the funds being recovered so any donation you are able to make will be very gratefully received.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christie's gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
Thanks
