In November 1950 a star was born (me) yes 63, for those who can't add up, but of more importance, three years later another star was born .....The SAMARITANS..

I have been lucky (some might say...you should have more sense at your age) to get the opportunity to run in the 2014 Paris Marathon and ONE, yes one week later the London Marathon, I have chosen to run (um!) in support of the SAMARITANS, who have been providing much needed emotional support throughout the country for 60 years. More locally, in 1969 PRESTON SAMARITANS opened its branch to offer that much needed support to the people of Preston and surrounding areas, so 2014 is the year we celebrate 45 year's of offering support ... Wow !!

How about some facts ( I have to think about something when I'm out running).........

 Marathon..............................26.2 miles x 2

My training mileage ................400 miles +

Annual Samaritan contacts..............over 5.0 million

Annual Preston Samaritan contacts.......... over 35000

Samaritans open..................................... 24:7

My time spent training .................over 100 hours

Each foot will hit the floor 800 x per mile thats over 800,000 times!! and three pairs of pumps

Blisters ....aches....pains...... lost count already

My Marathon targets...............

# 1 .... Get to April without injuries

# 2 ..... Finish in the day I started the race

# 3 .... Finish in under 5 hours

# 4..... Collect vital funds for our Branch

Will he do it ? Yes he will... but only with your help, I hope you can support me in my efforts (and it will be!) to raise much needed funds for the SAMARITANS, it costs over a £1000.00 a week to maintain our level of service.
