London to Brighton bike ride · 3 June 2009

Chernobyl Children's Lifeline has rebranded as CCLL - The Helping Hand for Ukraine and we prioritize help for children and their families in the northern areas of the country who are suffering from the ongoing conflict. We carry out our work without any political affiliation or bias.

Story

2009 London to Brighton bike ride, 21st June

I did it!  A total of 104 miles ... 10 to get to the start, 52 miles for the "official" ride, and 42 miles home.  I hit a bit of a wall (metaphorically speaking) at 97 miles, but managed to get all the way home without calling for transport!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this venture - the money raised in total will cover the cost of one child's visit this summer, which is fantastic.

This was my first time on the London to Brighton ride, and I rode it with my friend Maurice, raising money for the Mid Surrey Link of Chernobyl Children's Lifeline.

The Mid Surrey Link is bringing a group of 16 children over from Belarus this summer to give them a four-week break from the aftereffects of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.  It costs about £550 to bring each child over. You can read more by visiting the charity's website.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Chernobyl Children's Lifeline gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
