Stockport and District Mind works towards a society where anyone who experiences mental distress is supported in their recovery, empowered to reach their full potential and they and their family/Carers are free from stigma and discrimination.

Story

On 14th March 2018, my Dad died. This was sudden and unexpected, a shocking turn of events which broke many hearts.

We decided to try to make something good out of such a terrible situation, and chose three charities that we would like to raise money for in memory of Dad. We chose Stockport Mind, Lancashire Mind and Cancer Research.

We feel that all three charities do very important work in their fields and geographical areas. It's worth mentioning that the cause of Dad's death wasn't cancer or related to mental health but these are just three charities that we wanted to support through this fundraising.

People who wanted to donate to charity instead of bringing flowers to the funeral were able to donate to one or more of these causes. We also auctioned off a Blackburn Rovers shirt that was going to be a 60th birthday present for Dad, which the club kindly got signed for us.

I signed up to run the Lancaster Marathon in September 2018 but a back injury stopped me . I ran three Half Marathons in three weekends in spring 2019 instead, to bring the campaign to a close.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page and for all donations received.
