Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
All the training and positive mental attitude work paid off on Sunday when I managed to complete the Frankfurt Ironman in a time of 10hours 37 minutes. The race went pretty much as I expected with a great swim (2.4 miles/ 3.8km in 57 minutes) after which I was 154th; a fairly good bike (112miles/ 180km in 5hours 13 minutes) after which I had slipped to 395th position; and then probably the most unpleasant, painful, physically & mentally gruelling experience you can imagine - in other words the run. My 4hour 15minute marathon was only made bearable by the incredible support, the encouragement from Madalyn, Cameron & Richard egging me on, the motivation from all your sponsorship, and obviously the thought of a beer at the finish.
Thanks for sponsoring me - if you haven't but still want to I believe the site is open until the end of the month.
I am splitting the sponsorship money raised 50/50 between two charities - Hospitality Action is our industry charity, providing vital assistance for those who work or have worked in the hospitality industry.
Debra is Vacherin's chosen charity - working on behalf of people with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). All funding received by Debra goes to providing dedicated healthcare to sufferers of EB and their families, and funding specific research projects likely to lead to a cure and successful treatment. (see www.debra.org.uk for more info)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hospitality Action will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Hospitality Action will then send 50% of the total directly to Debra once all the money has been received.
Many thanks for your support.
