Dragon Boat Festival · 13 September 2008 ·

The AHOY work with disadvantaged children, young vulnerable people and those with disabilities. They offer them the opportunity to learn new skills along with the AHOY running courses and programmes to train them to gain qualifications and life skills needed for employment.

Story

"Ready about!", "Jibs", "Kicking Straps", port, starboard, spoons... hard physical work.  All watery concepts I am still a little hazy on, but I'm not confused about the fact that I will, together with a few other burly fellers, and not so burly cox, Jodie be rowing the  'Great River Race'  that follows the Thames river from Richmond to Royal Greenwich - a total of 22 hand blistering miles.

It was Guy Saunders' idea, and a good one too.

It's all for Ahoy centre (see summary opposite) which gives through your kind donations disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience water based activities in central London.

This is the first time in many years I've probably asked for you to get your debit cards out for charity, so I'm hoping the surprise element will encourage you to be generous!  Do it right now.... go on!.... pretend I'm standing right next to you!

Many thanks

Phil
