Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

Hi,

Thanks a million for visiting my fundraising page.

I've been training hard and am hoping to break the 4 hour barrier in what will be my first, and most probably my last ever marathon!

The Alzheimer’s Research Trust is an incredibly worthwhile charity so please dig deep and sponsor me online. Alzheimer’s is a horrible disease which affects nearly as many people as cancer. However, funding for Alzheimer’s research is just 3% of that to find cancer cures. For every person with Alzheimer's, £11 is spent each year on UK research compared with £289 for each cancer patient, even though similar numbers of people are affected. Recent research has shown that the number of people with dementia is likely double within a generation so there has never been a more important time to support this cause. To find out more about the Alzheimer’s Research Trust go to www.alzheimers-research.org.uk.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer’s Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks again for your support.

Phil

P.S. PARTY TIME: I'm going to hire an area of a bar in Central London for a post race party on Sunday 13th April. Watch this space for more details!
