Story
We are running the 5k Santa Dash in Liverpool on 5/12/10 in memory of Phoebe to raise money for a charity called Sparks which researches and develops treatments into medical conditions affecting babies and children.
Phoebe Crewdson was born on 16/5/10 weighing 5lb 15oz. She was delivered by Crash Emergency Section at 21:26. I was 37 weeks Pregnant.
She suffered from extensive Grade 3 Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy as a result of being starved of oxygen. She was treated on the Neo-Natal Unit at the Liverpool Womens Hospital where she received a pioneering new treatment called 'cooling'. It works by cooling babies overall body temperature to try and stem the damaged caused to the brain and allow it to recover. Phoebe died on 24/5/10 at 2:45am in our arms. She only lived for a short time but had a huge and ever lasting impact on our lives and she is deeply loved and missed.
Sparks is a charity which researches and develops treatments for medical conditions affecting babies and children.
Donating to Sparks will allow their research and funding into Cooling treatment to continue and hopefully help develop the treatment and save even more babies lives.
Thank you for reading Phoebe's story and donating to Sparks in her memory.
