Both Phoenix teams have now successfully completed the 24 Peaks Challenge over the course of last weekend: 28-29 June 2008. My colleagues and I would all like to express our profuse thanks to all of you who have helped us reach this wonderful total by making your contributions to this hugely worthy charity. As its name suggests the 24 Peaks Challenge involved climbing 24 peaks in the Lake District, all of which are over 2,400 feet, within 24 hours. The summits to be attained included many of the classic Lakeland climbs, including Red Pike, Great Gable, Helvellyn, Great Dodd and Scafell Pike. The total vertical ascent is over 13,000 feet spread over a distance of more than 50 kilometres, so it made for a fairly testing weekend.
