Thank you for visiting Phyll White's fundraising page.
My wife, Phyll White is 68 years old and for the past year has been attending a JJB Fitness Club in Bristol in order to keep in trim and she is so grateful that she now feels so healthy.
Phyll has decided she would like to make a contribution to society, to someone less fortunate than herself, she has made a decision that this is the time to do something about it and with my support Phyll will be embarking on an epic fund raising challenge with 39 other people to trek 5 days across Iceland in July 2007. She will be accepting this challenge on behalf of SCOPE, the charity for people with cerebral palsy. All 40 have pledged to raise £2,400 EACH for SCOPE.
Phyll has paid £200 towards her travel expenses and accommodation, (most nights will be spent under canvas). Her travel insurance, personal expenses and the equipment required will be her responsibility and will also be funded by Phyll.
The challenge is being taken very seriously, as she doesn’t want to let down her sponsors. Already JJB Fitness Club has supported Phyll by helping with additional training, and as can be seen below our Son, Daughter-in-law and Grandson have started the ball rolling with their generous donations. Time is creeping on and we realise that promising to raise £2,400 for this cause is a great responsibility and WE SHALL NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET to reach the fundraising target. The money raised from this event will help to allow SCOPE to continue running their vital services which are designed to support disabled people in every aspect of their lives from birth through to adulthood.
SCOPE is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers.
Every six hours a child is born with cerebral palsy, it is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child.
Please will you sponsor Phyll. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor Phyll : Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If you prefer you may send a cheque, made payable to SCOPE to

Phyll's Helper & Campaign Manager 27 January 2007 We are very pleased with the fantastic support we are receiving. Donations are arriving from all directions and as can be seen Phyll has almost reached her target. JJB Sports Fitness Club is being most helpful and the staff there are arranging a fund day next Monday 29 January, when all other club members will be encouraged to donate to SCOPE. A ' Soup Lunch ' is arranged each month by ladies in our village, Chew Stoke, to raise funds for charities. They have kindly suggested that half the monies raised on the 7February will be donated to Phyll's SCOPE fund. We wish to thank both JJB Fitness Club staff and the ladies of Chew Stoke for their welcome support. We have had numerous donations, too many to thank everyone personally but we plan later to put a message of thanks to all who have supported Phyll, together with a final update, in the various forms of publications we have used to organise Phyll's campaign. 30th January 2007. We were astounded by the donations received from members of the JJB Sports Club at the Fund Day yesterday, kindly arranged by the manager Steve Barr and his staff. We are especially pleased as the amount donated was £317.45 and has taken Phyll past her target £2400 which she had pledged to raise. Any further donations received will be an added bonus to the SCOPE charity, so please keep them coming. 5th February 2007 It's unbelievable, donations are still arriving from people who have seen our various forms of publicity. Thanks to all those who are supporting Phyll and SCOPE. 13th February 2007 Sweetfeetshoes co.uk have kindly provided me with a pair of (off road) CROCS. A special footwear which I need on the trek especially for river and stream crossings. I have tested them over rough terrain when training over the Mendips, they are superb, light, strong and so comfortable, they are a great asset. I would highly recommend all CROCS. 27 February 2007 Thank you to the ladies of Chew Stoke who arrange the monthly " Soup Lunch ". The February event contributed £94.50 to SCOPE. Thanks also to all those who attended on that day. 13 March 2007 Thanks to all my ex British Rail colleagues. I attended a reunion with them today at our Railway Club in Bristol. They have kindly supported Phyll with donations of £330. Brilliant!!!!!! 30 May 2007 Phyll is on schedule with her training and she has collected all the equipment she needs in preparation for the Iceland trek.We have visited SCOPE HQ in London recently and met the others who are partaking in this charity function. Phyll is delighted to advise that the donations received to date is £4047-66, which well passes the £2400 she had pledge to raise. This amount is different from the totals shown on the justgiving website as the gift aid claimed for the donations has been added and the just giving fees of approx £36 have been deducted. Thank you all once again for your fantastic support. I will still keep you up to date with Phyll's progress. 7 June 2007 We are pleased to report donations are still arriving and the total so far with the estimated gift aid contributions is £4392.66. Together with the last donations was included a poem from Stuart & Phyllis Ford, Chew Stoke, which we would like to share with you. Note, Phyll is known to be a bit of a chatterbox. An ode to Phyll ICELAND here I come Enjoy your walk Do not talk Too much, Phyll Or you will have a spill But keep on walking A little talking And you will cope In aid of SCOPE
