Story

Dear everyone,

As you probably know, I am cycling 1000 miles with some friends from Land's End to John O'Groats in June this year to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support (www.lejogcycle2008.co.uk). To my delight I have also discovered that MacMillan are organising a cycle trip to Mexico in March 2009. After the success of our Peru cycle trip in 2006 (thanks to everyone who sponsored me for this!), I decided I must also do this one - it's always nice to have another ridiculous cycle challenge on the horizon!! So if you would like to sponsor me for both the LEJOG and the Mexico trip, here is the place to do it!

The LEJOG trip will cover approx 1000 miles over 11 days from Cornwall to Scotland, going up the west of England then veering east through Scotland (and lots of midges and hills) to our destination. The Mexico adventure, though less mileage (600km), will take us from coast to coast through dense jungle, cloud forest and off-road dusty tracks. There will be 8 days of cycling for this one, and accommodation will be rough camping along the way.(http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Microsites/mexico/Day_by_day_itinerary.aspx)

In preparation for all this madness, I am spending my evenings cycling up the many hills of Crystal Palace, doing longer rides at the weekends, commuting to work by bike most days (weather permitting..), and swimming and running to increase overall fitness. I also plan on decreasing my chocolate intake so I weigh less and therefore go faster, but this will be the biggest challenge of all and possibly insurmountable....

MacMillan do an amazing job supporting people who are affected by cancer, and all my fundraising is in memory of my sister Claire who died from cancer years ago.

Thanks for visiting my page and sponsoring me once again!
Lucy xx

PS: Fundraising party on Friday 4th July at the student union, Guildhall School of Music and Drama - more info to follow.
