Story
We made it!
A huge thank you to all our generous sponsors, both on-line and off-line. To those of you who made donations up front and to those of you who are continuing to do so now that the trek is complete. Once we have collected all the money promised, we are confident that we will achieve our goal to fund a small family home for orphaned children in Moldova. Soon 8 more kids will be able to enjoy a loving family environment and start to develop their unique skills and talents from a secure home base. The kind of start in life we would wish every child to have.
The trek proved to be an amazing experience for us all. It had its tough moments
- when the path was steep and slippery and we had already been toiling uphill for 4 hours
- when we had a head wind pushing us back downhill and rain dripping from our noses
- when two of the group had to contend with their own, very immediate, health challenges
- when we saw the very basic, cramped, communal facilities at our hostel! But it also had its moments of pure joy and humour. The scenery was magnificent, at times awe-inspiring in its majesty and stark beauty. And we laughed and laughed some more! Our guides told us we were the happiest, most supportive charity group they had worked with. We are emerging from the experience fitter, with a deep sense of satisfaction about the children we will help, gratitude for all we have in our own homes and lives............and a yearning to return to the mountains soon! With many thanks for helping to make all this possible Kay, Trish, Isobel, Annabel, Ann, Cathy, Sharon, Fionna and Jane.
