Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We are running Reading Half Marathon to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton General Hospital. They have recently helped to save our friends son; little Ollie Dow in his struggle with meningitis and septicaemia. Ollie is recovering slowly and we hope to see him soon!
We are not going to be the quickest of the mark, but we'll get around!
Update no 2:
We've done it. Completed in 2:23! Richard with a bad back and me on my first attempt of 13.1 miles. Weather was great and the atmosphere was fantastic.
Update:
I went down to Southampton on Friday and met Ollie, Sam and Nick at the hospital. Ollie is doing very well and I got loads of smiles, waves and clapping hands. He is still on dialysis and won't eat a lot (might have changed in 3 days...), but as soon as he decides to do this he'll be heading home to Chineham.
The preparation for the half marathon is going very well, I've just been out for a short run and am sitting at work with salmon coloured face to my workmates enjoyment. Richard did his back in on Saturday but is mending quickly and very hopeful to be able to race on Sunday.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: PICU at Southampton General Hospital gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
